We followed our January, 2003 visit to Chicago by hopping
on the Texas Eagle
train and heading for Dallas to visit my dear high school
pal Nicki and husband
Paul (and their 8 cats and 2 dogs).
We enjoyed this visit immensely. Here's a shot of
Nicki and I on the porch of
their lovely East Dallas home.
And here am I, looking like one of those nature guys who shows up on the Tonight Show.
While in Dallas we spent some time at the Dallas
Museum of Art, which has a very nice collection, a lovely
building, and a pretty nice cafe for lunch.
One of the most interesting places we've been is the Women's
Museum in Dallas. A marvelous building that
has room to grow. A hall of fame of notable women and their achievements.
Clearly some big bucks behind
it, and a museum well worth a visit.
The Dallas Aquarium
at Fair Park is not going to rival the big guys like the Shedd (Chicago)
or Steinhart (San
Francisco), but it is a very well done little aquarium with some most
entertaining and unusual species. Does not
take long to go through, and most enjoyable.
Here are Nicki and I hanging out in her backyard in Dallas:
