Country Artists Mice

Wildlife of the World (including Sherratt & Simpson) | Stratford Collection
Mice Encounters

Country Artists in England has been producing animal figures, including mice, for a number of years.Visit the Country Artists USA website at http://www.countryartists.com to learn more the company, see the current line, and find US sellers.

In the early 1980's, Richard Cooper & Co. produced some of the mice. At right is one of those figurines, plus the original bottom label.

Richard Cooper & Co. became Country Artists officially in 1987.

These mice below and to the left are by Richard Cooper & Co. for Country Artists. One collector has wondered if these are very early Party Mice.

An Ohio collector sent me photos of the white Richard Cooper mice. I found the brown mouse with white tummy on ebay.
Country Artists produces several lines that often include mice. The premier line is their regular Country Artists line. All these pieces are made in England and are hard to find in the US. The Stratford Collection may include mice, and all are made in China. A small gold sticker plus the Stratford Collection tag can be found on the bottom of each of those pieces. A local dealer told me that there are the larger Stratford pieces and then a smaller, almost miniature line.
The figurines pictured immediately below are all from the regular Country Artists line and were made in England.

The three pieces above were designed by Victor Hayton and made in conjunction with Munro as part of their After the Party mice line. When Munro and Richard Cooper & Co. parted ways in 1983, Cooper kept the molds and continued to sell them under the Country Artists label. Some of the pieces have appeared with a Heron label; I've been told Heron was a department store that often sold name-brand items under its own label.
Country Artists pieces have been available with or without the plinth (wood base).

Wildlife of the World series
In 2001, Country Artists began a new line, designed by the Country Artists sculptors, but manufactured in China. The initial grouping featured English wildlife, but was later expanded to include animals not native to the British Isles.
