In 2000, several mouse collecting friends and I discovered an English company by the name of Sherratt & Simpson that made lovely realistic mice from cold cast resin. This Stoke-on-Trent company was named for its two creators: sculptor Mick Simpson and marketeer Geoff Sherratt. The first figurines were sold in 1985. The Sherratt & Simpson line contained many other living creatures in addition to mice. Sherratt & Simpson ceased operations in August, 2001. The recent molds were purchased by Country Artists, and in 2002 Country Artists introduced its Sherratt & Simpson line. Purests still prefer the original English-made figures. Many thanks to Maus, Phil, and others for photos and other information. Check out the bottom of this page: For Christmas, 2003, Lenox issued a piece called Holiday Helpers. It looks like a Christmas version of Early Night (pictured at left). Another collector has also told me that Lenox is selling the guinea pigs that were Sherratt & Simpson designs. Did Lenox buy these from Country Artists or from Sherratt & Simpson?
