The Price Genealogy

Not much in known about my grandfather, neither my mother or grandmother spoke of him.   I only know what I have overheard over the years and more recently from my cousin Sharron Price Rosedahl, whom I give credit with helping me on this page.  Thanks Sharron!

Robert L.  Price served in the Army Medical Corp presumably as a medic during WWI.   His discharge papers state he was assigned to the Medical Detachment/327th Field Artillery/84th Division out of  Ft. Thomas, Kentucky.   He married my grandmother, Margaret Olk around 1919.  They met while he was stationed at Ft. Sheridan and they later divorced when my mother was small sometime around 1931.

He was born August 26, 1897 in Ashe County, North Carolina to Charles Price and Sarah Sapp, also from Ashe County.  After the divorce, he moved back to Marion, Virginia and married again to an Ann.  At the time of his death his occupation was listed as an insurance salesman.  I had always been told he worked in the coal mines.

He was in and out of VA hospitals, being ill with heart disease andTB: Hines VA, in Chicago, Soldier's Home in Milwaukee as well as Mountain Home VA in Tennessee where he died February 13, 1953 at the age of 55.  He is buried there.

Through my research, I met Emory and Pat Thomas.  Emory's grandmother was Lockey Price Thomas.  Emory believes my grandfather and his  grandmother were brother and sister.  The following is from an e-mail sent to me in September, 2000.
"I think that you have the brother of my grandmother.  Her name is Lockey Price Thomas.  She was born in either 1873 or 1884 am not sure.  She was born in Ashe County, NC or Cherokee, NC.  She is either Cherokee or Blackfoot Indian.  Her parents were Charles Price and Sarah Sapp.  She married John Patton Giles Thomas, my grandfather, in 1902 in Washington County, VA."

I have no documented proof to the above information with a "broken" branch (divorce) it is difficult to get information.  Research is ongoing with the Price line.  Any help is appreciated. Kate
