At spawning time the male turns vivid scarlet.
Compatibility:
Aggressive; Not compatable with community fish; Can be kept with other cichlids
Breeding:
Typical cichlid fashion. They are excellent parents

This fellow is pugnacious, but the male is quite the "jewel" at breeding time.
