THE LYNN PEAVEY COMPANY
presents
Gizmos and Gadgets
with Dick Warrington

Dick Warrington is retired from the Shawnee County Sheriff's Department in Topeka, Kansas.  He had a career of 25 years in law enforcement, more than 19 years of which were in direct involvement with crime scene investigation.  Warrington remains active in the field as a teacher and has written numerous articles on crime scene technology and procedures including publishing The Death Scene Investigation Check List Manual.  He is currently a member of the Kansas Division of the I.A.I., the Association for Crime Scene Reconstruction and is on the Board of Directors of the International Crime Scene Investigators Association.  Warrington is currently working as a crime scene consultant for the Lynn Peavey Company in Lenexa, Kansas. Last year, after presenting a two-hour Gizmos and Gadgets class for the 84th International Educational Conference of the International Association of Identification (IAI) in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the positive feedback from the class prompted Doug Peavey, president of the Lynn Peavey Company, to take Warrington’ s class on the road. Warrington now travels throughout the country presenting the class at various IAI divisional conferences and individual agencies.

The ideas for the gizmos and gadgets just keep coming to Dick. It started when a light bulb went on in this crime scene officer’s head eight years ago. Actually, the light bulb was the Blue Light Special. The Blue Light Special attaches to the end of a Mag-Lite or Streamlight flashlight and is used to quickly scan an area for bodily fluid stains or latent fingerprints powdered with a fluorescent powder. Whether it’s an idea he thought of himself or one that he’s learned from a fellow investigator, Warrington continually shows officers simple and innovative methods to process crime scenes, and demonstrates new products developed for crime scene investigators.

The Gizmos and Gadgets class will include demonstrations and limited hands on use of various items and products. It will also include the following areas plus many more.
